Getting around

St. Augustine is a good place to visit, especially for those interested in history, charming scenery, and a mix of attractions like historic forts, unique shops, and beautiful beaches. As the oldest continuously inhabited European-established settlement in the U.S., it offers a unique experience with its well-preserved landmarks, Spanish colonial architecture, and vibrant atmosphere, though some attractions are considered more "touristy" by some visitors.

What makes St. Augustine a good place to visit

Rich history: As the oldest city in the continental U.S., St. Augustine is steeped in history. You can explore the well-preserved Spanish colonial architecture, visit historic forts like the Castillo de San Marcos, and learn about its past through its many landmarks and museums.

Charming atmosphere: The city has a walkable, historic downtown with picturesque streets, a pedestrian-only thoroughfare called George Street, and a variety of unique boutiques and eateries.

Diverse attractions: Beyond history, there are other attractions to enjoy. You can climb the St. Augustine Lighthouse for great views, visit Flagler College, explore Anastasia State Park, or see wildlife at the Alligator Farm.

Coastal access: The city is located on the Atlantic coast and has over 41 miles of shoreline, providing opportunities for beach-going and other water activities.
